Hojicha Roasted Green Tea

Roasted Calm – Roasted Green Tea for Your Quiet Moments

With its warm, nutty aroma, low caffeine content, and JAS organic certification, Roasted Calm is the perfect tea for relaxing evenings and mindful rituals. Natural, mild, soothing.

Roasted Calm comes from Shizuoka Prefecture, one of Japan’s most traditional tea-growing regions. The region lies at the foot of Mount Fuji and is known for its mineral-rich soil, pure spring water, and ideal microclimate for high-quality Japanese green tea. Our Hōjicha is produced there by a family-run organic tea manufacturer that works according to the strict guidelines of JAS certification (Japanese Agricultural Standard). The leaves come from the second and third harvests – particularly aromatic, but gentle in caffeine content. Careful roasting using infrared not only preserves the tea but also refines it – without any bitter substances.
Note: The following points are based on recognized studies on green tea and matcha. We do not make any healing claims. Hōjicha differs from other green teas in its particularly low caffeine content, making it ideal for the evening or for sensitive individuals. Its most important active ingredients at a glance: – L-theanine: promotes inner calm and mental clarity – Polyphenols: antioxidant plant compounds that protect cells – Tannins & catechins: support digestion – Warm roasted aromas: have a calming effect on the nervous system Hōjicha is gentle on the stomach and non-irritating, making it a wonderful companion for yoga, meditation, or simply your evening on the sofa.
Preparing Hōjicha is more than just a hand movement – it is a ritual of mindfulness. In Japan, Hōjicha has been used in the tea ceremony (chanoyu) for centuries – a moment of calm and concentration. How to prepare your Hōjicha traditionally: Sieve Hōjicha – pass about 1-2 grams (1 tsp) of powder through a fine sieve to avoid lumps. Heat the water – to approx. 70-80 °C, not boiling. Pour & whisk – add approx. 60-80 ml of water to the powder and whisk with a bamboo whisk (chasen) in M or W-shaped movements until frothy. Enjoy – in small sips, consciously and warm or iced.
A high-quality hōjicha such as Roasted Calm is characterized by: – Clearly defined leaves or stems, not crumbled – Uniform, warm roasting color – neither too dark (burnt) nor too light – Aroma profile: pleasantly nutty, slightly caramelized, without a pungent smoky flavor – After pouring: a clear, amber color, no gray haze – Fresh packaging: protected from light, aroma-tight, ideally in paper or a tea caddy Tea from large-scale industrial production is often over-roasted, bitter, and flat in taste. Roasted Calm, on the other hand, is roasted in small batches, freshly packaged, and processed with care – you can taste it in every sip.
